So what’s the difference you ask? I had no idea until I started using BB cream about a year ago. I was watching QVC and they were promoting Tarte’s BB cream. The before and after was like magic. I was in. So I went to Sephora to try out some samples.(actually about 6) The woman at Sephora was awesome and did her best to educate me on the differences.I left there with a bag full of goodies.
So here is what I learned about them…
BB cream is short for beauty balm or blemish balm cream. BB Creams were originally developed as a post-procedure cream used to treat, prime, hydrate, protect, and camouflage the skin. (not bad huh?) They are great for all skin types including those with sensitive skin.(like me) They are a “five-in-one” formula and designed to do it all: treat with high levels of active skincare ingredients, moisturize , prime & perfect your skin’s surface, camouflage and color correct your skin tone. BB cream tends to be a bit heavier and better for dry skin than CC creams with a focus on prevention and maintenance.
CC cream is short for color correcting cream. It corrects a range of complexion problems including dullness, redness, and sallowness (yellowness).CC cream is lighter on the skin than a BB cream. They have more of a whipped, light, fluffy feel and finish, kind of the new and improved BB. They contain Vitamin c and e and focus primarily on color correction.
DD cream is short for dynamic duo. A super cream with primary focusing on anti aging. While BB creams added primer, antioxidant protection, and SPF to standard tinted moisturizers and CC creams added color-correcting ingredients into the mix, DD creams now offer all those benefits plus even more anti-aging benefits to help smooth skin and reduce fine lines. I never heard of DD cream until recently. Seems like these cosmetic companies keep upping the anti. I can’t image what will be next. What else is there to improve upon?
Are you clear on the difference or even more confused? To me, they all do a great job creating a flawless complexion. I guess it depends on your skin type and what your major concerns are. I suggest doing a little sample testing yourself. I did, and my favorite is Tarte’s BB cream. I started using this about a year ago and it has become a staple in my morning routine. What I like about this product is that it looks like I have no makeup on at all. I have some sun damage and it does a great job smoothing it out. LOVE this product. Here is what it looks like. As you can see, a little goes a long way. This amount covers all of my spots on my cheeks and forehead.
